Mimecast
CyberGraph
Cybersecurity solutions are often difficult to communicate because many of their most important capabilities operate behind the scenes. Mimecast needed a way to explain CyberGraph to cybersecurity professionals while differentiating the platform from a crowded market of competing email security solutions.
The challenge was to transform several highly technical concepts—including machine learning, identity graphing, behavioral analysis, threat detection, and user risk awareness into a clear and engaging visual story. The message needed to demonstrate not only what CyberGraph does, but also why its approach to email security is fundamentally different.
The ProcessOur team began by identifying the core messages that defined CyberGraph's value:
• Blocking threats as close to the source as possible.
• Limiting the effectiveness of attacker intelligence-gathering techniques.
• Detecting sophisticated email threats through machine learning and identity graphing.
• Empowering users with contextual, real-time warnings.
Rather than relying on technical diagrams or data-heavy visualizations, we developed a more approachable narrative that translated these complex ideas into recognizable visual metaphors. Storyboards and style frames were used to simplify each feature into digestible moments while maintaining a visual language that felt both modern and strategic.
The animation combined UI-inspired graphics, network-based imagery, and game-inspired visual cues to guide viewers through the CyberGraph ecosystem, turning an otherwise abstract cybersecurity product into an engaging and memorable experience.
The Challenge
The final animation positioned CyberGraph as a proactive security solution that identifies and neutralizes threats before they can impact an organization.
By shifting the focus away from traditional, reactive email security, the piece demonstrated how CyberGraph uses behavioral analysis and relationship mapping to uncover threats that conventional filters may miss. Dynamic visual storytelling reinforced the idea that security should support users at the moment of risk rather than relying solely on them to recognize an attack.
The result was a concise, visually compelling product story that differentiated Mimecast's technology while making complex cybersecurity concepts easier to understand.
